Gym and Group Fitness Classes are back!

Active Monash is excited to announce that our gym and group fitness services will return from Monday 22 June.

This comes in response to the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions as announced by the State Government on Sunday 24 May, allowing indoor fitness and recreation facilities to re-open with additional health and safety measures.

From Monday 22 June, services available at MARC and CAHC will be:

  • Lap Swimming
  • Gym
  • Group Fitness

We will continue to revise our group fitness timetable and will add more classes as restrictions ease in the coming weeks.

Personal Training

There will be no Personal Training services during this stage of re-opening but will considered in the next stage of eased restrictions. 

To ensure the health and safety of our community, changes to health and fitness services include:

  • Increased cleaning measures including regular facility cleaning and sanitation stations.
  • All equipment that is porous has been removed for safety ( i.e. no mats, resistance bands, yoga blocks or straps).
  • Patrons are required to supply their own mats for gym and group fitness classes.
  • Patrons can bring their own resistance bands for gym sessions if required.
  • Water fountains will be turned off for safety and patrons are required to bring their own water.
  • Towels are required for all sessions. Towels should be clean and a fresh clean towel used for each session.
  • Patrons will be required to clean/spray equipment down before use. Cleaners will be cleaning all equipment at the end of each session.
  • Limited change rooms access will be available if required. Where possible, we continue to encourage customers to consider showering and changing at home.
  • No locker access available.  Please leave your valuable personal items at home. 

All memberships and Learn to Swim will remain suspended, and all visitors will be required to pay an entry fee per visit.

Bookings essential for all visits

To monitor the number of people in our facility, bookings will be required for all visits.
Bookings are open to members, multi-pass holders and casuals.

Session prices
  • Members: will receive four weeks free access from Monday 22 June – Sunday 19 July inclusive. Following this four week period, we will continue with our previously advertised casual entry rates, and hope to recommence regular membership offerings.
  • Multi-Visit Swim Pass: may book and utilise a visit from an active Multi-Visit swim pass. Upon booking a visit will be removed from the pass. Multi-Visit Swim Pass can only be used by the named pass holder do to requirement to be able to identify all Centre users.
  • Casual: casual entry is available at the normal aquatic entrance prices.To reduce contact and congestion in the facility we will not accept payments within the Centre.

How to book

All bookings to be made over the phone, with no bookings accepted in centre.

Member and visitor expectations
  • To maintain community health and safety, we ask all visitors to practice the following when visiting our facility:
    • Practice appropriate 1.5 metre social distancing at all times
    • Prompt entry and departure from assigned entry and exit points.
    • Stay home if you are sick – If you have cold or flu like symptoms you must stay home, do not attend your booked session and seek appropriate medical advice
    • Have patience. We ask that you remain patient when visiting our facilities. As always, please respect our staff and follow their directions at all times. If you have any questions or issues when visiting, please see a member of our team for assistance. 

     

 

Planning your session
  • Please arrive at Main Entry 5 minutes prior to your session commencing.
  • Please follow all directional and social distancing signage when attending the centre.
  • Concierge staff will assist with controlling numbers within the facility and directing you through to designated areas.
  • A booking consists of 60 minutes in the facility from the session start time. Group Fitness classes run for 45-60 minutes. Patrons must depart the centre to allow staff to complete cleaning procedures between sessions. 
  • Customers are able to book consecutive sessions for the same, or different services.  Given current session times and cleaning requirements, customers will need to exit and re-enter the facility to attend subsequent session.

  • Patrons can bring their own resistance bands for gym sessions if required.
  • Water fountains will be turned off for safety and patrons are required to bring their own water.
  • Towels are required for all sessions. Towels should be clean and a fresh clean towel used for each session.
  • Patrons will be required to clean/spray equipment down before use. Cleaners will be cleaning all equipment at the end of each session.
  • Under current restrictions, showers and change room facilities are closed. Access to toilets is permitted within the facility.
  • No locker access available.  Please leave your valuable personal items at home. 

 

 

Important booking information
  • Bookings open during business hours (Monday – Friday  6am-9pm, Saturday – Sunday  8am-7pm) and close 30 minutes prior to the session commencing.
  • Bookings available 48 hours in advance of session start time and close 30 minutes prior to the session commencing.
  • Booking along with payment will be required prior to attending a session.
  • A booking consists of 60 minutes in the facility from the session start time. Patrons must depart the centre to allow staff to complete cleaning procedures between sessions.
  • Customers are able to book consecutive sessions for the same, or different services.  Given current session times and cleaning requirements, customers will need to exit and re-enter the facility to attend subsequent session.
  • Refunds and credits are not available if you cancel your session booking. We are unable to reschedule bookings once confirmed. 
  • Warm Water Pool - MARC - If you require use of the change room hoists we kindly ask where possible that you provide your own sling.  We do have a limited number available, but due to the current cleaning requirements, we cannot guarantee that these will be available.
  • Current age restrictions on access:
  • Children 10 and Under - We are currently unable to accept bookings for children under 10.
  • Children 10 and Over - Parents must use their judgement prior to booking children 10 and over in to swimming sessions. We recommend that children 10 and over are accompanied by a supervising parent/guardian who ideally is prepared to swim and supervise their child.  The supervision parent/guardian is also required to pay the appropriate casual swim entry.  We are not currently accepting Non-swim entries. 
How many people can use the facilities?
  • Current people per session limits apply:
    • Gym –  20 people per session
    • Group Fitness classes have a capacity of 10 people 

 

The following services will not be available during this phase
  • Learn to Swim
  • Spa, Steam Room and Sauna
  • MARC - Toddler pool, Wave Pool and Children’s play area are unavailable until further notice.
